| Vosburg Dianna Lee Vosburg ![]() ![]() This recent work includes explorations in still life and landscapes. The paintings are expressive and realistic, using strong color and movement. I have been incorporating lessons learned in the classical mode, observing carefully the importance of value in describing form, increasing sophistication in the use of color, and editing the information consciously while painting an image. I am also having a lot of fun playing with brushwork. Philosophically, I am intrigued by the idea of lyricism, which I think of as aesthetic movement over time (which creates space). I'm interested in the connection between music, poetry (lyrics), and visual art. A painting that "sings" becomes a living entity. I like to think about the tremendous energy contained in matter, and I try to paint this thought as I gaze at a still life. Painting becomes an extension of one's intensity of perception. I am seeking a sense that the paintings encode a state of consciousness, paintings that, as Paul Klee said, "look back at you." These paintings are a record of a voyage. |
